The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), officially known as the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), offers multiple pathways to become a permanent resident of Canada. Whether you're a skilled worker, an international graduate, or an entrepreneur, Alberta has a stream that could match your profile.

AAIP offers 8 different streams you may qualify for. Here we’ll focus only on 4 key pathways that are the most popular and accessible in 2025. These are worker-focused streams, ideal for people who either already live and work in Alberta or plan to do so soon. We'll break down language, job offer, work experience, and education requirements for each.

✅ Tourism and Hospitality Stream
If you are from the tourism or hospitality sector, working and living in Alberta, you could be eligible under this stream if you meet all the following requirements. You must have 6 months of full-time work experience with an eligible employer from the tourism or hospitality industry, and a job offer from the same employer.
🗣️ Language Requirements
Minimum 4 each
General Training test is required if you are submitting IELTS.

Must be from your current employer
Must be full-time and permanent
The work must not be remote or located outside Alberta.
Your employer must be in an eligible tourism or hospitality industry

💼 Work Experience Requirements
Required at least 6 consecutive months full-time work (or 780 hours)
Your work must be:
With the same employer who gave you the job offer
In one of the eligible occupations (see table above)
Paid and with a valid work permit
🛂 Work Permit Requirements
LMIA based closed work permit.
Maintained status not eligible.
❗Important: Most open work permits, including the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), are not eligible under this stream.
📚 Education Requirements
You must have completed high school or higher
If credentials not from Canada, then an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) might be needed.
✅ Alberta Opportunity Stream
If you are living and working in Alberta and have relevant experience related to your field of study, an eligible job offer from an Alberta employer, you could be eligible for this stream. Work experience gained outside Alberta (including abroad), is also eligible if you meet other criteria. Please read below if you meet specific work experience, language, and education requirements.
🏡 Residency and Work Permit Requirements
You must be in Canada and working on a valid temporary resident status at the time you submit your application and when AAIP assesses it. Valid work permits include:
LMIA based closed work permit.
Most open work permits, including the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), are eligible under this stream. There are different sets of education and work experience requirements for PGWP holders, read below.
🚫 Ineligible: Refugee claimants, individuals under appeal or removal process, temporary residents living/working outside Alberta, or those without valid temporary resident status.
💼 Work Experience Requirements
You should be working in Alberta and an occupation of TEER categories 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Most occupations under TEER categories 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are eligible, except a few. See the ineligible occupations list here.
Your experience must be for the same occupation as your current occupation in Alberta.
All applicants (except PGWP holders):
Should have 12 months full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months, or
Should have 24 months of full-time work experience in your current occupation in Canada or abroad within the last 30 months or both – this work experience can be a combination of experience gained in Alberta, in Canada (outside Alberta) or abroad.
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holders:
Required 6 months of full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months.
Your current occupation and work experience should match your field of study.
🗣️ Language Requirements
You must meet the minimum language test scores based on your current occupation TEER Category:

📚 Education Requirements
All applicants (except PGWP holders):
Must have at least Canadian high school equivalent education.
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holders:
Must have graduated from an eligible Alberta institution.
✅ Alberta Express Entry Stream
This stream has 4 priorities (pathways) like Health Care, Tech, Law Enforcement, and Priority Sectors (like construction and agriculture). You need to have an active Express Entry profile with IRCC, to be eligible under this stream.
🧾 Minimum Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for this stream:
Requires a valid IRCC’s Express Entry profile and qualify to at least 1 CEC, FSW, or FST federal programs
Minimum CRS score of 300 required for Express Entry profile.
You must be internationally recruited police officer by a member organization of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP), and AAIP will review it
Your current Alberta employment or job offer must match your primary occupation mentioned on your Express Entry profile.
You need a verifiable job offer in police-related NOC codes listed below:

🏗️ Priority Sector Pathway
Applies to workers in eligible construction, agriculture, or aviation occupation.
Your primary occupation listed on your Express Entry profile, must match Alberta’s priority occupation list (construction, agriculture, or aviation)
If AAIP invited you based on you having job offer from Alberta, that job offer occupation must be an eligible construction, agriculture, or aviation occupation.
✅ Rural Renewal Stream
The Rural Renewal Stream is part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), designed to address labour shortages in rural communities in Alberta, by attracting skilled workers. This stream provides a pathway to permanent residence for candidates who have received a full-time job offer and an Endorsement of Candidate Letter from a Designated Community.
📌 Who Can Apply Under the Rural Renewal Stream?
You may apply under this stream if you:
Have a valid job offer from an employer located in a Designated Rural Community in Alberta. Check the details of Designated Rural Community here.
Have received an Endorsement of Candidate Letter from the community’s Economic Development Organization (EDO).
You are either:
A Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) currently living in Canada,
An individual not yet in Canada, or
A refugee under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) with a valid Referral Partner Letter.
🎯 Rural Renewal Stream Eligibility Criteria
🏡 Residency Requirement
You must:
Intend to live and work in the designated rural community, or
Already be living and working there at both the time of application and assessment.
Refugee claimants already residing in Canada are not eligible.
🧾 Endorsement of Candidate Letter
Issued by the EDO of the designated community and must include:
Your personal and residential details
Employer’s details and job description
Community’s economic reasoning behind your selection
Employer’s efforts to hire within Canada
Contact information of the issuing person
💼 Occupation Requirements
Your job must be in an eligible occupation (under TEER 0–5, NOC 2021).
Be full-time, continuous, and in an eligible occupation
Should be from a valid operating business in a designated community
💼 Work Experience Requirements
You must have 12 months of full-time paid work experience in the last 18 months
Experience can be in Alberta, another Canadian province, or abroad
Exceptions: Post-Graduation Work Permit holders who completed a 2-year program in their designated community are exempt from the 12-month work requirement.

💼 Application Process – How It Works
Designated Community Selection
Alberta designates rural communities to participate in this stream.
Community Endorsement
The designated community selects candidates and issues an Endorsement Letter.
Expression of Interest (EOI)
Candidates then submit an EOI to the AAIP.
Application Invitation
If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to apply.
